Property rights versus Growth Management
Two issues this week in the never ending dispute which afflicts every high growth area, like Western Washington, where grunge may be gone, but property values just keep going up and up and up....

Normally, I would say that we need density in urban areas to help the environment, economy, and lower housing costs. Since King County is almost entirely urban, we should protect wilderness in other areas of the state and country. The federal government would be the ideal body for protecting the environment.
But with the republicans controlling all three branches of the federal government, I doubt they will do anything other than destroy the environment.
Also, I doubt these property owners will build dense apartments or low income housing. Call me cynical, but I imagine them creating more suburban sprawl. Do we really need another freakin' car dealership?!
Therefore, I say screw property rights, I would rather have a planet to live on.
